Ernesto Macaro

Worcester College, University of Oxford, England

Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Oxford where he is Director of the Centre for Research and Development in English Medium Instruction (EMI Oxford) in the Department of Education. He teaches on the Masters in Applied Linguistics and on the Teacher Education Program.

His current research focuses on second language learning strategies and on the interaction between teachers and learners in classrooms where English is the Medium of Instruction.

Professor at UACh Puerto Montt, part of the English Department, Master in Applied Linguistics, Licenciado en Educación, Licenciado en Inglés. His main interests are reading comprehension and writing and their cognitive processes. Co-author of the graded reader "Myths and Legends from Chiloé" and the forthcoming reader "The Mapuche Culture".

Professor at UACh Puerto Montt, part of the English Department, and Cambridge Assesment English Team Leader. He holds a Master's degree in Higher Education and a BA in English. He's been interested in Phonetics, ICT, reading and writing. Elizabeth Torrico-Ávila

 

Universidad de Southampton, Inglaterra

Dr. Elizabeth Torrico-Ávila holds an MA in linguistics; an MA in translation studies; an MA in Tesol; and a PhD in modern languages. She is currently researching on language policy in Chile, the economic perspective of the spread of English in that country, the revitalization of the Kunza language by the Lican Antai community, and language and power in the Latin-American context.

Heather Bruyere

 

USS, Puerto Montt

Heather is a US citizen and graduated with a degree in English Literature in 2007 and a minor in TESOL from Messiah College, Pennsylvania. She has lived and worked in Puerto Montt Chile for ten years, first as the English department Head at Colegio San Francisco Javier for six years and then for 4 years now at Universidad San Sebastián as a literature and ESL methodology teacher. She has completed three diplomados: "Apendiendo a Pensar Profundamente" with Universidad Católica, ESL methodology with Universidad Alberto Hurtado and "Educación Inclusiva y Discapacidad" with Universidad Católica.

Viviana Rojas

Professor Rojas is part of academic staff at the English Teaching Program in Universidad Catolica de Temuco. She holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics. She has been teaching at different levels for about 20 years. Her main interests are Didactics and Reading strategies.

Sibila Acevedo

 

Universidad Mayor, Temuco

Sibila is an EFL English Teacher and origamist born and raised in Punta Arenas, a former student from Catholic University in Temuco. Qualified teacher in Cambridge Examinations Certifications and IELTS. Holder of a diploma in Effective University Teaching at Mayor University and nowadays, she is finishing a Master in TEFL at Catholic University in Temuco. Author of a "Graphic Design Course Book" for ESP courses for Graphic Design students at Mayor University in 2016. She is currently working at Mayor University Language Institute and at Maquehue Air Base as FACh EFL Professor in Temuco.

Margarita Villalón

 

UACh, Valdivia

Margarita Villalón Ormeño is an English language teacher and a Master in TEFL who currently works at Universidad Austral de Chile, in Valdivia. She has been teaching courses of English for Academic Purposes (among others) since 2012 to the students of veterinary medicine, dentistry and engineering. In 2016, she conducted research in order to determine the students’ selection and use of reading strategies. The results showed that students do benefit from the explicit instruction on strategy use. The research included an instruction plan on strategy use, which can be replicated in different levels of education and fields of study.

Felipe Martínez

Felipe Martínez is an EFL teacher of the Centro de Idiomas in Universidad Austral de Chile. Mr. Martínez is a current candidate for the MA in Communication from Universidad Austral de Chile and his areas of expertise involve teaching practices for ESL adult students, communication in the classroom, syllabus design and implementation for ESP programmes.

Jessica Silva

Jéssica Silva has been an English teacher for 19 years. She studied English Pedagogy at Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, with a degree in English Language and Literature. During her career, she has attended several teacher training programs, such as International Baccalaureate’s PYP – MYP and DIPLOMA, Teaching English at Elementary School Post-graduate course, among others. She has certified CPE - Certificate of Proficiency in English - level at the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations. She holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development and Educational Projects from Universidad Andres Bello. Currently, she works as an associate professor at Universidad Austral.
